Collection: Dain's Kit

The equipment I actually dive with.

I’m Dain, the diver behind Oceanauts. Over 15 years of diving in warm and cold waters around the world have shaped the equipment I choose. This is my personal kit selection, with a strong focus on cold-water diving.

Use it as a starting point, then choose for your own diving, fit and experience. If you would like help putting a setup together, ask me for practical advice.

Dain’s Kit: Tried, Trusted & Chosen for a Reason

This collection brings together equipment I trust and use. These are personal picks shaped by real diving, with a focus on practical features, dependable performance and equipment that earns its place in the kit bag.

1. Buy for Your Diving

  • Your Setup Matters: A favourite piece of my kit might not be the best fit for yours. Consider your exposure suit, configuration and the diving you actually do.
  • Useful Before Fancy: Look for features that make your dives easier, rather than paying for extras you won’t use.
  • Colour Is Clearly Important: We’ve all tried to justify a purchase because it comes in our favourite colour. Just make sure “it matches my fins” isn’t the entire equipment assessment.

2. Build Your Kit Gradually

  • Upgrade with Purpose: Replace or improve the equipment that limits your comfort or enjoyment first.
  • Keep What Works: You don’t need to replace reliable equipment just to match someone else’s setup.

Dain’s Tip: If you’re curious about why something made this collection, ask me. I’m happy to explain what I like about it and help you decide whether it suits your diving.
