Choosing Your Sidemount Setup: Fit Before Extras

A good sidemount setup starts with equipment that works together. Choose your harness, wing and cylinder rigging around your body, exposure suit and intended diving.

1. Start with the Harness & Wing

  • Adjustability: Look for a harness you can fit comfortably over your usual diving suit, with accessible attachment points.
  • Compatibility: Check that the wing is designed for your chosen harness. A wing or harness sold separately may need additional components.

2. Check the Cylinder Rigging

  • Complete the Setup: Confirm whether bungees, cylinder bands, bolt snaps and lower attachment hardware are included.
  • Avoid Duplicate Parts: Check what comes in a complete system before adding individual accessories.
